C'est La Vie

Back when I kicked off the Blogger incarnation of this site (all of two weeks ago or so), I said I'd hoped I'd be able to get back into the groove of writing and gaming and creating, as my work stress was finally dropping off.

Last week, my wife found out she's going to be laid off in early January.

This week, a long-planned server upgrade at work very suddenly kicked into "Do it now!" mode.  Actually, we're doing it on Thursday night, but it means a couple of very long days ahead doing the final prep work for it, and actually implementing it will make for a very late night followed by a very early morning.

On the bright side, after that, I've got a week off.  Then a week on.  Then another week off.

If I live that long.

I'm still planning on rocking the dice tomorrow night.  Something tells me I'm going to need to kill some goblins.

  1. Give those goblins hell. Sorry about the missus. That is very sad to hear.

  2. I think we'll be OK, at least for the foreseeable future. Either they'll rehire her elsewhere in the company, or her severance package will be more than she made last year.

The saddest bit was that she got word of this the day before her fifteenth anniversary with the company.

By the way, the bright spot of the weekend was getting "Faces in the Crowd II." Great stuff, as always.

  3. Hi Theron. Sorry to hear about your wife - hope it works out. Hearing about it the day before her 15th year, wow.

As for the game, I'm with Christian. Give those goblins hell.

  4. I have no doubt she'll be re-employed in extremely short order.

In the meantime, I shall deploy large quantities of suicidal shock-troops in Einar's general direction tomorrow, and I hope this will help in some small measure.
