Slow Game Is Slow

Today's D&D game was set aside for a board game day.  I tried out "Arkham Horror."  All in all, while I think I see the appeal, I don't see myself playing it again unless the folks demonstrating it have a better grasp of not only the rules, but the overall strategy.  As it was, there was too much flailing around and far too much referencing the rule book at every turn to keep me engaged.

  1. I've played it a few times, and it's not a bad game. The rules do seem somewhat clunky till you have played it a few times and have really worked them through.

  2. Arkham benefits immensely from the inclusion of one damned soul -- like me! -- who has ingested and assimilated the rule book to such an extent they can lead the group through the turn.

  3. Jeff can chime in here, but I've heard people in his group rave about the game.
